determinism
Would James say that Hume’s version of necessity, James’ “determinism,” allows regret to be rational? It is often said that if you are morally responsible for something, you could have done otherwise. (To be to blame for running a red light, I must have been able to stop.) How would (does) Hume deal with responsibility. What would James say about it?
